After going over all the facts, Walmart is good for America. Walmart is bad for America, as some say. The Globalization essay that was handed out in class had many good points. It states that Walmart puts many smaller businesses out of service.Wal-Mart’s benefits from this unfair trading system is clearly an impediment to the future economic growth of the nation, which is why it is apparent that the United States may adopt a protectionist policy in order to protect its economy.Team Obama praises the “Wal-Mart economy” James Furman, a top new economic advisor to President Obama thinks that Wal-Mart and “the Wal-Mart economy” has been excellent for the American workers, low-income families who can’t afford to buy more expensive products made in America, and finally American tax payers who pay part of the health care costs of thousands of Wal-Mart employees.
Over time, various sides have weighed in on the issue of Walmart and whether it's good for America. Given the fact that this debate seems to continue each year and that Walmart is one of the most important stocks in the world as both a member of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and as an economic indicator for the broader market, here's my position.The debate rages on as to whether Wal-Mart is good or bad for America with no real conclusion in sight. In the next section of this essay I plan to establish for myself, based off of this text and the research done for it, an opinion of whether or not Wal-Mart is truly good for America.
